Cybersecurity is a pervasive and visceral threat to the Investment Management industry and the SEC has characterized this issue as a “defining issue of our time” and has warned that those investment advisers that chose to minimize or ignore this issue, do so at their peril.  Attacks are launched and vulnerabilities are exploited daily and just recently, a now well-known London-based established hedge fund was swindled out of $1.2 Million due to a sophisticated cyber-attack launched against a seasoned and capable CFO.  Fund Managers and Due Diligence Professionals alike must be informed and educated on how to develop and assess, respectively, a modern day Cybersecurity Program.

Learning Objectives

  • General Cyber Security Risks posed to Fund Managers
  • Real World Attack Scenarios – A Technical Look
  • Progression of Regulatory pronouncements regarding Cybersecurity
  • Regulatory Guidance – What the Guidelines Mandate
  • How does Regulatory Compliance Translate to Action
  • Sacrificial Case – RT Jones Capital Equities Case
  • What Will an Audit Look Like?
  • Take aways; What’s next?”

Understanding cyber threats, precautions and pitfalls is now part of any thorough due diligence effort. Being prepared for the inevitable can be the difference between a serious business disruption and a minor inconvenience.
